“She scoffed at her sister, causing her to endure excruciating pain because of her sibling envy.”

Elizaveta Dubrovina, 19, stared down at her younger sister with hate filling her eyes. She was tired of being second best to Stefania and exhausted from the sibling rivalry. It wasn’t fair, Elizaveta thought. It was her sister who turned the heads, who the mags wanted to photo shoot, and who the older men eyeballed, staring at her tits and imagining a fuck. But not anymore, Elizaveta thought. Again, she stared down at her younger sister, but this time, the knife she held penetrated her already bloodied and ruined face. No one would want her now.
For several months leading up to the murder of her sister, Elizaveta became increasingly jealous. The two girls were once close, looking out for each other as children in the orphanage, but now it seemed that Stefania didn’t need her older sister anymore.
Stefania, had just turned 17-years-old, started receiving modeling contracts, and her social media followers were flooding in. She had blossomed into a beautiful woman, and Elizaveta hated her for it.
St Petersburg showman Stas Baretsky, 43, told Russian newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda: “I had known Stefania for about two years. She was a modest and attractive girl, she took part in my shows. I am shocked.”
The 2016 murder was a terrible sight to see. The sisters were “partying” with a 44-year-old Alexey Fateev, Stefani’s older “lover” — and from what I could tell , a modeling producer of sorts, in his St. Petersburg apartment.
A social media video shows the two sisters just hours before the murder riding in the back of a car. They were both laughing and teasing the camera; nothing that would indicate the older sibling had imagined mutilating her prettier younger sister.
Alexey Fateev had left both girls alone in the apartment while he went out to buy a bottle of wine. All three had been drinking and consuming “drugs,” though unclear what they consumed. Once Alexey left, a sibling fight broke out between the two sisters, and in an “envious drug-filled rage attack”, Elizaveta began stabbing her sister to death.
It was reported that Stefania was nude and was “hacked” and stabbed in the body and face 189 times by Elizaveta. During the frenzied attack, the older sibling used the knife to “gouge” her sister’s eyes out and then to slice off her sister’s ears.
““The victim was stabbed in her head, torso and limbs then mutilated, with her eyes gouged out and ears hacked off.” — The Province
Alexey Fateev had just returned from buying a bottle of wine when he saw his “ruined” girlfriend lifeless and bloody on his bedsheets. He had arrived after the massacre and caught Elizaveta trying to leave; he detained her until the police arrived.
Elizaveta was arrested and charged with the murder of her sister. She was facing at least 25 years in prison, but in 2019, received a lighter sentence of 13 years, which she is currently serving. Court documents have reported that she has absolutely “no remorse” for what she did to her younger sister.
