Kyron Horman’s disappearance was one that took over national news for a while. Even ten years later, his family is still hopeful that their son will be returned or that his abductor will be brought to justice. Depending on who you ask, there are different opinions surrounding what happened to this seven-year-old boy on the day that he vanished for good. Some people blame the police for Kyron never being found, but they continue to work on the case, even all these years later.
The last time that Kyron Horman was seen was on June 4th, 2010. This bright young boy had a very exciting morning, which he spent at his school’s science fair with his step-mother, Terri Moulton (Terri Horman). Final images of him show the young boy at the fair sporting a favored C.S.I. shirt and a broad smile that seemed to capture his excitement about the event. When the fair was over, his step-mother left so that he could return to class. According to Moulton, that was the last time that Kyron was seen alive.
At the end of the day, Kaine Horman, Kyron’s father, and Terri went to the bus stop to retrieve Kyron, just like they did every day. To their surprise, Kyron did not get off the bus. When they asked the bus driver to explain where Kyron was, he told them that the young boy had never gotten on the bus. In a panic, they hurriedly called the school to locate their son. Upon questioning, the school revealed that Kyron had been marked absent in every class. After the science fair, he had not made it to any of his classes. Concerned, the school immediately contacted authorities to begin an investigation.
As far as we know, Terri Moulton was the last person to see Kyron alive. She claimed that after sending him off to class, she had made the decision to drive around with her other child, a baby, who was reportedly fussing and needed the drive to fall asleep. Though this seemed tangible at first, many have since begun to speculate, including Kyron’s mother, Desiree Young.
Though it is not unusual to drive babies around to get them to sleep, many people find the timing to be a little too convenient. In fact, some believe that it is hardly an alibi at all. The police seemed to also think this and began to focus on putting pressure on the family’s landscaper, who admitted that he had been paid to harm Kyron and Kaine both. Unfortunately, this ultimately proved nothing more than the fact that the police on the case cared little for the truth. The landscaper was reportedly threatened by police and told that his family would be deported unless he helped them to prove that Terri was involved.
It is entirely unclear what caused them to accuse this innocent man of playing a role in this awful situation, but while doing so, they overlooked some glaring details. DeDe Spicher, one of Terri’s closest friends, also vanished that morning. She wasn’t gone for long, but there was an hour and a half of time where she left work for an undisclosed reason. Even more suspicious, reports claim that Spicher helped Terri to buy a burner phone. Despite this and many failed polygraphs, police have not come any closer to convicting Terri in this case.
Ten years later, Kyron’s family is still hoping that he will return. By this point, both parents are convinced that Terri played a role in their son’s disappearance. Even as the years pass and they worry that he might not come back at all, they are adamant in their pleas for justice. A couple of years back, the parents were given hope that they might find their missing son, but nothing else has come forward in the media. As his family continues to hope, requests are being made for new officers to investigate the disappearance.
